Write a 300 word review of the social media network you selected as your Inquiry task. Write the review as though you are recommending (or otherwise) the social media platform for someone else.

You can join up to the website with other social media such as Facebook, Twitter or you can join up directly to this networking site (Foundd 2015). It also comes as an app which can be used on android or smartphones and tablets.

The suggested website Foundd (2015) is easy to use and has been set out in a stylish way for the audience. It has been kept up to date. It does include a press kit; however, the kit is mainly pictures of the website and lacks any real detail about the ‘company/website’.

Pages included in this website are:

  • home page which includes links to other pages
  • Foundd blog page
  • movie rating, movie recommendations, movie collections
  • TV show rating,TV show recommendations, TV show collections
  • IOS Game rating, IOS Game recommendations, IOS Game collections
  • and several other pages are included.

You can search manually for any other the three options that are provided, you can also filter the search options for filters such as genres and years (Foundd 2015). Games, movies and shows are also recommended to you.

Some statistics provided by (Foundd 2015) website are:

  • People who had friends who also used FOUNDD stuck with it for over a year.
  • Around 80% of people were still active after 12 months.
  • 95% of growth came from iPhones and iPads (0.5 million downloads).
  • Over 14 million ratings were made on FOUNDD.

The updated FOUNDD website is a mobile film community with a simple app including a feed of ratings and reviews from the people you follow (Foundd 2015).

Foundd (2015) provide other statistics that 50% of the people who install the new FOUNDD app on a mobile or tablet still use it after 2 months and on average 3 times per week.

One weakness that was found for this networking is the lack of actually business or professional reviews for each of the categories provided.

Ames (2015) states that background colours can make certain coloured fonts hard to read. Thereby, I found the second weakness was the use of background and text colour is so similar that it all blurs into each other.

My personal opinion of this networking site is that it is not something I would use as I have no interest in its design or its idea or theme. I personally like to see the actual trailers that are provided when actually watching free to air tv and Foxtel.

This is most likely influenced by both the lack of mobile and internet connections where I live which makes anything using those two mediums frustrating. However, it would be great for people who love to get recommendations as well as for those who love to voice their opinion on movies, shows and games.

  1. Hi Zoe!
I like the above review as it is very factual. Some feedback I would like to offer is as follows:
With so many facts and statistics , i didn’t get a feel for your style of writing or what the site exactly does.
The sentence ‘website foundd (2015) is easy to use and has set it out in a stylish way for the audience’ is hard to read. Maybe cut out ‘has’ and ‘it’ from this sentence.

Hope this helps, good luck with everything!

    Wesley.
